Keyword Traffic Research

Utilizing Rank Ranger's proprietary algorithms, the Keyword Traffic Research tool can help you find strong keywords for your campaigns, and keywords that can drive traffic to your website.  It displays data in Keyword Category Groups based on similarities; the General group gathers all of the keywords that don’t fit into a common grouping. This tool will provide detailed keyword analysis results when at least 300 keywords are driving traffic to a site. General Category results will be provided for sites with low traffic. 

Traffic volume is based on data for the last 3 months.

Important! In order to utilize this report Google Analytics must be configured correctly (please refer to our Google Analytics documentation).

Report Options

Enter Keyword Filter

Select Filters:

  • Enter the minimum number of traffic visits you want a keyword to have received in order for it to be included in the report.
  • Enter specific Keyword(s) if you want to filter the results by keyword(s). Enter a plus (+)  before positive keywords and minus (-) before negative keywords with a space between each keyword/phrase in the Filter by Keyword field.  More information...
Select Keyword Analysis Algorithm

Select one of Rank Ranger's Proprietary Analysis Algorithms:

  • Panther checks for the most precise similarities, providing useful information for marketing campaigns and website organization consideration.
  • Grizzly merges more keywords with lower similarities, often providing fewer categories but interesting options to consider.
  • Jaguar is similar to Panther but checks for fewer leading keywords, thereby providing diverse results that could be useful for various marketing activities.

Get Results:

  • Click the Search icon.

Note: using the Filters will produce more targeted results. You can choose to not filter the results in order to obtain more data as in the screenshot displayed in the next step.

Review Keyword Category Groups

Review the Keyword Category Groups:

  • Each group provides a common category title, along with total number of keywords and traffic visits for that group.
  • Click any Group title to display the detailed research data.

Review Category Results:

  • Keywords that are already being tracked in your campaign are flagged with a Tracking icon.
  • Traffic visits during the last 3 months for each keyword are provided.
View More Landing Pages

View More Landing Pages:

  • To view more landing pages for a keyword, click the More link in the Landing Page column (e.g. 2 More).
Launch On-Page Keyword Optimization Tool

Launch On-Page Keyword Optimization Tool:

  • In the Landing Page column you can click the magnifying glass icon to launch the On-Page Keyword Optimization tool for a comprehensive analysis of how a particular keyword is performing for a specific page.

View More Results:

  • Keyword display default is 25 entries, you can increase this at the bottom of each section by clicking the down arrow and selecting the number of entries to display per screen.
  • Or click the forward arrow to advance to the next 25 keywords.
Add keywords

Add Keywords to your SEO Campaign:

  • While analyzing keyword traffic if you decide you want to add a keyword to your campaign, simply click the checkbox beside it.
  • When you've checked all the keywords you want to add, scroll down and click the Add Keywords button at the bottom of the column.

Add to PDF Report

Conveniently add a report or graph with its current settings to a PDF report by hovering over the gold gear icon and selecting Add to PDF Reports

Select the PDF Report that you want the report or graph added to

Drag the new report or graph into the position you want it to display in the PDF and confirm that the Date settings do not conflict with the automated scheduling settings.

Add to Marketing Dashboard

Conveniently add a report or graph with its current settings to a marketing dashboard:

1. Hover over the gold gear icon and select Add to Marketing Dashboard
2. Select the Dashboard (campaign name)
3. Select the Dashboard Page that you want the report added to

4. Click the "Go to Dashboard" link to further customize the report (e.g., drag it to a specific position on the page, change date settings, etc.)

Refer to the Report Options section for details regarding the display settings, filters and sort options available for this report.

The report date (or date range) is governed by the selected Dashboard date option: Date Selection or Fixed Periods, learn more...

  • Daily reports default to the last day of the selected period
  • Weekly and monthly reports default to 1 month of data
To change the number of weeks or months displayed in a specific report, click the gear icon for any marketing dashboard report element and expand the Date option section, enter the number and click the Save Button.

Add to Client Dashboard

Customize Report for Client Dashboard

Client Dashboards display our default report options for each individual report and graph until you modify them. To customize the display of the report, expand the Report Options section, change the settings and click the Apply Changes button.

Then expand Report Options again and hover over the Save icon and select Save as Default for Client Dashboard.

After saving the Client Dashboard default, any changes that you make to the report options will not affect the display in the Client Dashboard unless you overwrite it by following these instructions again.

Enable the Report or Graph to display in the Client Dashboard

Open the Campaign Settings > Client Dashboard screen and check the box corresponding to the report(s) you want displayed in the dashboard, and then click the Save button.
