Keyword Stuffing

Keyword stuffing is a blackhat SEO practice of artificially increasing the number of times a keyword is mentioned on a web page in order to increase the page's rank on search engines. The major search engines penalize websites for keyword stuffing. One of the reasons that search engines stopped factoring in meta tags in ranking is because site owners were repeating keywords in the meta tags. One of the reasons that Google developed its Penguin algorithm was to identify and penalize websites employing keyword stuffing.
